Connect Modibite to Claude or ChatGPT

Log meals and ask about your day from a chat, using the same account as the app. Setup takes about a minute and is done once per assistant.

Claude

Use a computer. Set this up in Claude on the web or in the desktop app. Adding connectors on the Claude mobile app is still in beta, so it may not work there. Once connected, it works everywhere you use Claude, including your phone.
Available on every Claude plan. Free plans can add one custom connector.
  1. Open Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector.
  3. Name it Modibite and paste the URL above.
  4. Select Add, then Connect. A Modibite sign-in page opens.
  5. Enter your email. We send you a six-digit code; enter it, then approve the access you want to grant.
Ask something like “what have I eaten today?” to check it works.

ChatGPT

Set it up in a desktop browser. ChatGPT can only add a connector from chatgpt.com in a browser on a computer, not from the mobile app. Once it is connected, you can use it in the ChatGPT desktop and mobile apps too.
Requires developer mode, which you turn on in settings.
  1. Open Settings and turn on developer mode for connectors.
  2. Add a new connector, name it Modibite and paste the URL above.
  3. Leave the client ID and secret empty, then connect and sign in with the emailed code.

What it can do

  • Search the food database, including by barcode digits.
  • Read your meal logs for any date.
  • Log a meal, add or change items, and delete a log when you ask.
It reaches only your own account, and only while connected. It cannot see your password, and it cannot change your account settings or delete your account. Your assistant asks before anything is written.

Disconnect

Remove the connector in your assistant’s settings to revoke access immediately. Deleting your Modibite account revokes it too.

Trouble

  • Not sure which email to enter? Use the one your Modibite account uses; the app shows it under You → General. If you signed in with Apple and chose Hide My Email, it ends in @privaterelay.appleid.com.
  • No code in your inbox? Check spam, then request a new one. Several requests in a row can be rate limited for a short while.
  • Connector shows an error after it worked before? Remove it and add it again; that re-runs the sign-in.
